dislocated knee?

I have a doe with whose two front knees are swollen - I'm guessing due to CAE - the left more so than the right. The problem is that she's seriously limping on the left leg and when she puts weight on it, her lower leg seems to want to jut out to the side (right or left) at the knee. This looks terrible and normal at all. She doesn't seem to be in much pain though, she's eating fine, doesn't seem depressed - yes, she's laying down & resting more, which doesn't surprise me, but that's about all. I've got her confined so she doesn't feel she needs to follow everyone else out to pasture.

Could the knee be dislocated? Possibly due to the swelling? Is that even possible?

My guess is her knee is just that messed up due to the CAE. My dad's actually having his knee replaced on Tuesday, it's never been injured, but severe artheritis has his knee buckled out to the side. I've seen pics of goats that look very similar.

Thanks ... that's a relief to know. I was thinking about maybe putting a splint on it so it could heal quicker ... constantly putting weight on it and making it buckle out to the side can't be good for the joint.
