Old Goat Pregnant..and it isn't me !!!

My 10 year old goat Maddie is due to kid..?? I hadn't intentionally wanted her bred but guess things do happen..through the fence ??? She is my goat that last month had to the vet to have her prolapsed uterus stitched closed. Removed them and she seems to be good. Her "area' looks clean and pink so hopefully, she will not have a problem kidding. She has kidded just fine in past years. Should I expect her uterus to prolapse during or after kidding and do you think there will be any complications. Advice..please. (vet assured me she wan't pregnant.

and that she actually weighs around 250#'s)!!!!!

Well, it's not my area of expertise, but if it were me, I think I'd keep the vet on speed dial. While I don't expect her to prolapse again, I also think I'd be ready to do what needs to be done to get the uterus cleaned and back inside if she does prolapse.

I wish you and your old gal an easy time of it, with two smallish doelings that are very healthy. While Maddie is a bit older, I am sure she's not decrepit.

Was it actually her uterus that was prolapsed or her vagina?

Uterus...I am now on 3 hr checks through the day and nights..I have 2 old gals that are huge. Maddie, my problem doe..is all"puffy" at her end. So keeping a good watch on her. She is from my old nubians from by gone days when I bred for conformation and registration. Good milkers and the old fashion nubians that were big in size with the big nubian noses. wish us luck..are barn lights will be burning for a while now.

color me confused...how is it possible for her to be pregnant and due to deliver if her uterus prolapsed just a month ago? it the uterus was inside out there is no way it had 4 month old fetuses in it. I have heard of prolapsed vaginas in heavy pregnant does, where the vaginal wall even up to part of the cervix is pushed out and exposed.

I hope she does great kidding and does not have any further prolapsing. She sounds like a gem!

the vet assured
me she wasn't pregnant but now she is bagging up. I am so confused. guess I will just have to wait and she what happens. The longer I have goats, or they have me, the less I know about them. Time will tell.
