Disbudding questions..

If the buttons didn't come off, like I'm reading in other posts, did I not burn long enough?

We used the rhinehart 50 with a regular tip on our nubian doelings. Followed the directions, which for the X50 state 5 seconds and not 8. We burned until we got the copper ring all the way around, but I haven't seen any buttons/buds/caps come off.. The tissue doesn't appear to be growing, but it's hard to tell.

Do we need to reburn and make sure the buttons come off?

Don't want to realize my mistake once it's too late to do anything about it..

I use a 50...I burn to a good solid copper ring..then turn the burner tip on it's side and sort of scrap/flip the cap off...there should.be NO blood under them, if you burned long enough.. the cap is just a thicken circle of skin and cartillage like skin/hair...it will be tough and burnt from being inside the burning tip...to make for sure that I am centered on the cap...I use scissors to cut off the hsir covering them...tried shaving with clippers..traumatized the kids worse with the clippers then the actual disbudding...

I have reburned lots of times...usually due to a bit of scur growth...if you don't think you did it long enough...you can do it ahain...If it were me, I would wait a week or two and see if the csp falls off or if the bud is still growing..instead of reburning again right away
