Goat Preparedness Practice
I was heading out to check on my girls. My herd queen is due on the 10th, so I also go out to just monitor changes. As I'm heading out, I see my other two girls (the talkative ones) just hanging out around the fence line--being quiet! Then I hear from the barn, "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
My initial instinct is, "Oh crud, I missed signs of kidding this morning, and she's gone into labor!" I try my best to run in the gross mud that's out there, without busting my rump. I get into the barn to find my quiet herd queen screaming her head off. In labor? Nope. She had pulled and picked through the hay I had in their feeder, left a nice pile of it on the floor, and was yelling to let me know it didn't pass inspection and she needed a refill.
On the bright side, I can count part of that little run towards my cardio requirement for the day, right?
