I guess this is just like most things with these darn goats. There just does not seem to be easy to find exact answers! LOL
From what I have found researching it ranges from;
1.The legs are just weak with large breeds like nubians and give it a few days to see if it gets better on its own.
2. Splints even if home made with tp roll cores and vet wrap
3. No, do not splint
4. BOSE or selenium.
I am one of those that does not automatically BOSE. I live in an area that is only slightly defecient in selenium. I use Tennessee co-op feeds and loose minerals that both provide selenium along with other minerals and vitamins. The local goat people and vets I have spoke to do not recommend using it. There is also a real possibility of selenium toxicity.
I did provide this little guy with Kaeco Colostrum Oral Gel. It is a product sold by Jeffers.
"A nutritional product for newborn goats which contains dried colostrum milk, a source of live (viable) naturally occuring microorganisms and vitamins." Vitamins A, D3, E, B12
