That horrible moment when...(vent)

you open the barn door and see all the goats out . Yep I walked out into my barn today to find some of the goats milling around in the middle of the barn. Normally not a big deal unless you have 40 bags of wood pellet bedding in there as well as feed bags sitting in a wheel barrow (normally feed is locked up tight). Thankfully they hardly messed with the feed (weird I know!) but the bedding...oh the bedding that I spent $160 on, well...not all the bags are opened....

The worst part is I didn't have time to clean up anything because I have to head in for work soon. I have nothing to put the open ripped bags of bedding in until probably Monday so the mess will have to sit there until then. I literally sat down on the milk stand (after chasing goats around the yard trying to get them back in the barn into their pen ) and started bawling. That bedding was supposed to last me a good long while and now I don't even know the extent on the damage they did until tomorrow. I know in the grand scheme of things it could have been way worse. But to me that was the worst thing that could have happened, money is tight and I had budgeted everything down to the last penny.

Okay vent over for now....but those goats have NOT heard the last of this .

Justine

can you use wood chips as bedding? i get free wood chips from the county. i have to pick them up, and who knows what all wood is in there, but it is free.

What did they do to the bedding....tear it open? I would get some trash bags and just start filling them up. even if they have poop in them. They might have to have some poops in their bediding for awhile..that's their fault. Mine have poop in their bedding becuz I do the deep bedding method and it's no big deal. You should take pictures of mayhem. We have all been there.....
Hubby left the gate open in the loafing shed...Horses went crazy and tore open the bales and pooped on everything

So sorry that happened! Hopefully your day will go better and by Monday it will all look brighter.

Holy carp though! We get wood pellets for 5.00 per 40 lb bag and use them in our kitty litter boxes, so I can't even imagine finding a place to store 40 of those! (Let alone lift that many bags...)
