Penicillin vs. Oxytetracycline

I have a doe that kidded early this morning who I had to "go in" on and pull the 3rd kid. I was taught by the person who got me started in goats to do a preventative course of penicillin any time you have to be invasive just to get the leg up on any potential infection that might occur. So, I was at Tractor Supply waiting this morning when they opened and got my bottle and started administering it to her right away this morning.

As of tonight she is still retaining her placenta (happened to me last year on another doe, so I have some experience with the urgency around keeping an eye on this), but last year I used Oxytetracylcine for that doe. In trying to refresh myself this time around, I noticed that Oxytetracylcine was recommended a couple places for situations with retained placenta because it penetrates the uterus better.

Should I switch her over to Oxytetracylcine or continue with Penicillin?

Thanks.

I'd switch to Oxy (I use Biomycin). I prefer Oxy for all kidding difficulties.

Pen is what I use for respiratory illnesses.

ETA: Oh, and do the FULL course with the Oxy. Days done on the Pen don't count.

If you have Lute you can rub some on her Cervix to get her to open back up to push the rest out.
After the kids are born I usually tie the strings hanging out in a knot to gently put some pressure on the placenta and to keep them from stepping on it.
