My Goat is Dying

Hello I am new hear I live in remote interior Alaska I am 160 miles from town with no phone and I am loosing my doe. She aborted Monday night I saw her pass some tissue after but did not see her pass the placenta. The baby was very small so she did not dialate. She was doing fine until this morning. She is showing all the signs I think of ketosis. I am doing all that I can giving her honey, baking soda, vitamins, etc but she is so out of it ad can not stand I know I am loosing her is there anything else I can do? I have her in the house. Please help. I have to go back to being with her will check back in a bit if it's not too late.

Did you 'go in' to see if there was another kid and this is how you know she didn't dilate? Do you know it is ketosis and not an infection?
What is her temperature and what color is the inner lower surface of her eyelids.

What meds do you have on hand? Antibiotics? Calcium, either oral or injectible?

Thank you for your responses. She has passed on and taken a piece of my heart with her. She was fine last night and just seemed a little off when I checked her at 5 am. I'm not sure of what happened exactly. I was there when she aborted it was so tiny she didn't have to dialate to deliver it. I tried to feel inside but I could only get two fingers in. It all just seemed to happen so fast. I think all I did by tryig to help her is make her suffer. The death was very painful. I've lost baby chicks a couple times and I had a dog put down once and of course this does preemie but never have I been through a suffering death like this. I'm sorry to be gushing but it all just happened.

I'm so sorry she is not doing well . I would give her antibiotics just in case she has an infection. Did you worm her after she aborted the baby? Do your best to keep her hydrated.

Again, I'm so sorry...you sound so worried

Check her temp. How far along was she? I would think if she aborted and did not pass a placenta and/or another kid in there that she has a massive uterine infection. She needs her uterus cleaned out with some Lute and a good lush and antibiotics.
Sorry this is happening to you. It really bites when this happens.

I am sorry you lost your special gal. It's ok to be upset. If talking about it helps you then talk away. Our animals are part of our family they are dear to our hearts. I am sorry you both suffered. I hope you can find some peace in the very near future. {{{Hugs}}} from Tennessee

I'm so sorry about your goat. I have only ever lost one. She got into the feed shed and managed to bloat herself. Sometimes, no matter what you do, or what the vet does, they die. Some things cannot be overcome. And it always seems to happen to your "favorite" girl.
I'm so sorry.

So sorry

I lost my favorite doe last year 1 month after kidding 2 beautiful does. She lost 1 doe in a freak accident 24 hours after kidding. She was always a heavy milker and I had started a new job and wasn't as observant as usual. Her milk started dropping off and I assumed the baby was eating it. The short story is all of the signs were there and after 20 years I should have noticed. Milk fever or hypocalcemia. I called the vet but it was evening and she had no calcium and there was none anywhere and she died. I messed up! We all do and we are not perfect. We do the best we can for our critters but sometimes things happen. Your goat knew she was loved and you cared for her. There was nothing else you could have done.

I'm so sorry! I know all too well how much that hurts.
I apologize for earlier my computer did not update for some reason and did not show your post that she passed away. We weren't trying to be insensitive.

((Hugs)) sorry for the loss of your girl.

Maybe her post wasn't showing when we posted our responses? I for one didn't see that she lost the doe and was trying to be supportive. The fact that others also posted support hoping the doe pulls through leads me to think that there was a glitch and OP's post wasn't showing. But thanks for pointing it out.
