Love my cameras..........

There was a mention on here last year about Alde having cameras on sale for $89. Ya right I thought. Bought one, hookes it up and as clear as a bell! Went back and bought two more...........they work perfect!!!!!
If they go on sale again, I am buying two more. Have not missed a birthing since. Twin bucklings this AM, 10 1/2 pounds each. Twin and triplet lambs so far safe and cozy in the barn.........10 more sheep to go....
Perfect weather here in CNY, high 30's in the day, high 20' at night.

isn't kidding season SO MUCH nicer WITH the addition of kidding cameras? We've had a two camera system for the past 6 years...it was one of the set ups where you flipped back and forth between camera views...this year I upgraded the camera system...we now have an 8 camera set-up...never before have I been able to see every inch of every kidding pen...can watch all 8 at once..or 4..2..or just one...able to zoom in...all by remote control...all for 199 bucks (free shipping) so far 2 of the 19 pregnant dors have kidded...we sat inside dry and snug...just watching..out snd back inside with kids on less then 10 minutes for both deliveries....so much nicer then back when we'd have to get up..dress..trudge to the barn, disturb everyone...go back inside...do it again in an hour...

congrats on your new cameras and kids

Each of the cameras scan 4 stalls, I set it for 20 seconds on each stall. I have a wood barn close to the house but friend has a metal barn a good distance and hers works great also! Nice to hear from you.....Joan

PS: They have sound too............

Anyone? I just ordered a $450 barn cam, but if there is something that would work well that is cheaper, I sure would like to know about it so that I can return the $450 camera.

my first 2 camera unit was less then $90 (it was wireless...did a decent job).. the new 8 camera system was $199 (but it is wired.. my kidding barn is only 8 feet from the wall that my TV hangs on) My bet is your barn is further away from your tv? I would doubt you would want to string wire for that far??? The picture quality is excellent... I couldn't be happier with it (especially for the price)

Those sound like a great idea. Is that a camera sold by Aldi's? I was trying to find it and it did come up at that price but only in Australia.

I'm thinking of going with some type of Wifi enabled camera such as this. My barn is a good 100 ft plus from the house so installation on anything wired is going to be expensive. I'd like to set it up with some computer software to record on motion perhaps, and it would be really nice to be able to check the cameras from my phone when away from home to make sure everything is ok. Would also like one monitoring the driveway and such to keep track of who happens to show up when no one is around. Someone stole a bunch of cases of bottled water out of my entryway a few years ago, still wondering who that was.

Sigh. So jealous. I am relying on my baby monitor. My barn is about half a football feild from my house. There is a driveway between house and barn. No way could I have a wire feed. I have no internet connection either. Just my phone. The ONLY thing we can get here is hughes net and it is just as bad as dial up for 90 a month. I don't think so...

I was told to try cabcam's to use as a barn cam. A friend has one and she says it has great day/night video. That's the one I ordered, but it wasn't cheap. She also doesn't have a way to do wired and has a metal barn, so it's wireless and seems to work with her barn.

Looking at it more, it looks like using a software called Blue Iris will interface to multiple cameras, and allow you to access/view/manipulate any of your cameras remotely such as from a phone or something else over the internet. I was looking at TruConnect to do that for the Internet access portion, that looks like it could work. $4.99/month plus 3.9 cents per MB, which if used only periodically to check on things remotely seems like it would be just fine.

Yes forget satellite internet it is terrible, I've tried a few of them and they all have the same shortcomings. Where I am the only other option is mobile broadband. It has some limitations too but it is the best I can get and works pretty well.
