First babies of the year for me

Yep, kids last night. Twin doe and buck from a second freshner Alpine. It was only 5* outside. I brought the kids in and warmed them up, gave them a generous portion of colostrum and took them back to mom. Mom is almost afraid of the kids. She cleaned them, but not excited about nursing them. Last kidding she had one kid that went straight to a pet home. I will be working with her to raise these, as I am not wanting bottle babies.First babies of the year for me - GoatsFirst babies of the year for me - Goats

When you make a post, before hitting "submit", go down a bit and click on "manage attachments". It will then prompt you from there.

Kidding going on and working to part time jobs keeps me hopping at places other than the goat forum. Kids are doing well other than one frost bitten ear on the buckling. I will be bringing them in the house for just the night. Mom is a bit dumb, but getting the hang of it.

What a little doll! Some goat mama's love their little ones but just don't seem to "get it" when it comes to taking care of them. You did the right thing or more than a little ear would have frozen!

Such a little cutie & I hope the doe starts getting a little better at taking care of her babies for you.
