sale prices

Sold some 11 month old dairy type goats at the sale this weekend and got 2.32 a pound. We averaged $140.00 each. These were goats we bought this past summer during the drought for $10.00 each. We fed, wormed, and gave vitamins and minerals the past 6 - 7 months and they were looking good. We made a pretty good profit from these guys.

I think I am going to paste your post to my forehead when the guy comes knocking who wants one of my PB, well kept boys for $50.00!! In all honesty, I would rather see them go to feed someone than to sell to someone who does not value the hard work, time and expense that it takes to raise nice kids to adulthood. Good for you!!!

Congrats!

Would be curious to know more details if you can share them. Where are you located, who does the butchering, who is buying-end user or butcher or....I don't even know the right questions to ask but am insatiably curious.

We are in central missouri and our goats were all bought by an individual. They were mixed breeds with about 1/2 nannies and 1/2 wethers. The lone billy we had sold for $175.00. All of the goats at the sale of any breed were bringing a pretty good price.

We were just excited that our investment this summer and a little work to get them healthy again paid off. We would definately do it again. Whoever got them will have some good butcher goats as well as some nice little nannies if they don't mind having mixed breeds.
