She can have does, but at least one needs to be a buck, as I have one on order!

Sorry guys, I knew I would probably get beat up if I didn't include photos.

Peachy had a buck & doe. The buck was first and was trying to come head first (only), so I grabbed his feet and got him out. Then the doeling came out right quick while I was trying to deal with the buckling and before I could grab another towel, she was out, sack and all...it didn't even pop! To be honest, I don't even know what position she was in, but hurried and got it off her face, and wiped the goo from her nose with the buck's towel, then grabbed a new one. The buckling weighed a whopping 4.5 lbs, and the doeling 3.5 lbs. All are doing well! And to top it off, they are both a reddish color-perfect for Valentine's. (Mostly brown though). The buckling's new owners want to name him Valentino, and I have to think of a name for the doeling, which I will be retaining.

I hope these are not too big. The first is the buckling, and the next 2 are the doeling.

What darling babies!!!! Congratulations! I love when they are so new they can hardly stand up! I have a knack for showing up right about then. I've hit that time often, but was only around for one actual birth, but none have been my goats.

Thanks for sharing the story too. Every experience helps teach those of us who have no birthing experiences of our own yet.

Wow, a doeling born in the caul. You know, there's a tale among midwives that babies born in the caul will be blessed with extraordinary intuition, be lucky wherever they go, and never die a water- related death. I'm sure baby goats count too!

What is "the caul"? Valentines? I sure hope those things are true for this little girl!

(I have had a goat drown in water a couple years ago, a yearling a month from kidding...it was not fun, to say the least ).
