milking through.

While I'm sure it's been covered before, I'm trying to find out what the longest someone has milked through for. I am at 21 monthes and still getting close to a gallon a day sometimes more.

When our girls come home we plan to milk them as long as we can. If we only have to breed every third year I would love it.

Longest I have ever done it was 3 years but I seem to recall the appraiser saying he did a doe that milked for 7.

This doe had some very impressive extended lactations.

The NZDGBA breeder I'm hopefully getting buck service from says she is still milking her best 3 goats that last kidded in 2006! My jaw just about dropped,it seems incredible but she's got a good reputation.
I have to wonder how much she gets off them though...

I like the idea of milking Salma though until her daughter Willow is old enough to breed and then take them both for service the following year. Dont know though, as I gather it depends on the doe.

Also, the production will drop off in winter and increase again in the spring.
