Uterine prolapse fixed !!

Had mentioned before about a 10 year old nubian doe I have that had a prolapsed uterus a while back and now again. Unable to place it back myself this time so off to the farm vet this morning. She cleansed it, used the sugar to reduce the size a bit and gave her a couple sutures. I will take them out next week. Hopefully, this will cure her problem and she will not kid again..if all goes well. The vet actually told me she weighs around 250#'s. I knew she was a bit on the fat side...but guess we all get that way when we get older. She is one of my old nubians from by gone days that seem to be bigger than today's nubians. Wishing for a happy ending for her !! then went through the drive through window at the bank and teller said she has had many different kinds of dogs but never a goat at the window. Guess there is a first for everything !!

I'm glad. I've never experienced that, but I bet it was scary!
I love taking the goats through drive-throughs. You get some funny looks!

Did the vet use the sugar or did you?
It's interesting that sugar was mentioned in Herriots books for prolapsed uterus, but it is not used by vets today because they choose to do an ovariohysterectomy or use hormones to take down the swelling. I am curious about a vet who might still use sugar?

I hope your doe lives a few more healthy years.
