Goat Expo 2013

Went to see a goat friend tht lives a little north of me since she has new babies & I needed a baby fix today & she said the lady that runs the goat expo called & said it's going to be in Illinois this year & in July.

Wish they would have picked Indiana or even Iowa again since Illinois you have to have herd wide TB testing done to show there.
TB is not an issue here so wasn't planning on doing that test but wasn't sure if I wanted to show anyways.

Thought some of you may be interested though in case you wanted to start planning early to go this year.

There is something going on in St.Paul Minnesota in July also...The week of July 6th. I already took off work for it.

Isn;t that the big ADGA show? I saw that advertised on FB yestersay, told DH we need to go. It would be our first.

St. Paul is the ADGA national show.

The goat expo was looking at Bloomington IL last I heard and last week of September they changed it to.

It is a few months away so no hurry. I just thought I might go since it's likely to be kinda close. When I know where and when for sure, I will have to look for a camping spot nearby to reserve.

No. TB is tuberculosis. TB testing is mandatory in some states for showing, mandatory in other states for shipping, and mandatory everywhere to ship out of country. You seldom hear of it anymore because tuberculosis is rare...however, it is NOT eradicated. It is rare because testing is demanded, and positive animals are destroyed.

Johnne's testing is not yet mandatory.

In many states, Brucella testing is also mandatory. TB and Bruc. are the two big ones.

We test, because we are responsible people, for Johnne's and CL because both diseases are passable to humans, even though the government does not currently require such testing.
We test for CAE because it is a nasty disease that will destroy your herd.
