Please Help Quick!!

I have a Saanen doe that is acting off, walking weird, holding her ears weird and is bleating unusually. I noticed Sunday she had a small penny sized patch of hair missing on her top spine. She has acted normal up until this evening. I have a bad gut feeling it is deer worm. Is there anything I can do quickly to reverse the effects or is she too far gone once the symptoms start in? I have separated her from the others. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, Im very worried goat momma!

I found both of the links above with info on meningeal worm. I hope it helps & I'll keep looking.
I'd say if your doe is still up walking around & it is meningeal worm than maybe you caught in time. Most of the posts I read about it the animal is already down & some have still saved them after that.

Hello everyone, this is powell7311's husband. We are thinking now that this might be a case of goat polio. We ran out of the hay we had been feeding and switched to a round bale from a different farm last night that was of questionable quality and might have contained mold. Luckily, we are close enough to another generous ht member who has offered to meet us and lend us some thiamine to give to our sick goat. I am currently rising shotgun with my goat lady on a mission to pick up the medicine. She asked me to post to let everyone know what was going on.

Thanks for the update. I hope she gets better for you & thank goodness you have a good goat friend nearby. Let us know how she does.

They say when treating for Polio you should also treat for listeriosis since the 2 are so similar in symptoms & it won't hurt to treat for both but may save them.

Is she possibly bred and getting ready to kid? My goats act weird when they are in labor sometimes.

She is bred, but not due til end of March/ first of April. This definitely is not labor symptoms... I'm hoping the Thiamine does the job. She's my favorite, if I had to pick

By all means treat for both, in my 22 years of owning goats I have treated three and saved all three and two of the three was in bad shape very quick. The last one I had down was fine 30 minutes before and was down and in a very bad way, out in the sun, and it was hot as H$$ this passed June, ran and got a 5 gal bucket of water and several bath towels until I could get someone to help me get him out of the sun. Had him in the barn in about 20 minutes and treated him with 12cc of Fortified vit B complex every four hrs and 8 cc of Penicllin every 6 hrs for 18 hrs and then cut it all back to 12cc of Fortified Vit B Complex morning and night and 6 cc of Penicllin morning and night for several days. He was a 130 pound pet wether. Took several days for him to be able to get up without falling and he did lose his sight which did come back after several weeks..I keep him lockedup in the cool of the barn due to the heat of summer until he decided he had enough of the barn life and busted out. He's been fine since. Praying you can pull her through this.

We are treating her with Thiamine, Penn, and Dexamethasone. How soon can we look for improvement in her if she is pulling out of it? I understand the dex can/will cause abortion.

She seems to be doing a little better this morning. We gave her shots this morning a little before 6. Dhe isnt bleating loudly this morning like last night. I'm feeling more hopeful that she will pull through. Thank goodness! Thanks everyone for caring, we appreciate it.

We're still continuing with the meds. She seems to be doing a little better every day. Thank goodness. Does anyone know the time they should abort after the dex or time it may take for full recovery? She hasn't aborted yet, we gave her the dex Tuesday evening.
