Minelson....you're ssoooo funny!!!!

Yes, I LOVE the smell of my goats, their barn, and to top it off, wet goat is my favorite. I even submitted an idea to "Yankee Candle" for a new scent...."Wet Goat".

My kids don't think it'd be a big seller, lol. I'd love it, however. :-)

Very funny answers! Funnier because you guys mean what you say! I do not doubt it for a minute! I love the smell of hay...cannot get enough of that smell. My human kids hate it! I was stunned when I learned that. There are some smells in the barn that really get me into action cleaning! Others are just barn smells. I do rely on smell as much as sight and hearing to decide if all is right in the barn world. There may be something seriously wrong with me psychologically but I confess that the boys' goaty smell does not bother me a bit...in some way it is actually nice. I know, I know, most people draw the line with the boys.

When I had goats, I always enjoyed the smell of them. I love going to work and walking into the horse barn and smelling the animals.

There is some kind of "sweet" smell that I catch sometimes with the buck smell...I'm guessing it might be what the girl goats are attracted to.

I love the way our goats smell. I swear one of ours smells just like Earl Grey tea (now you all know I'm completely nuts).

I have a friend who thinks horse barns smell bad. Seriously, a mix of warm horse, hay and leather smell bad? The girl is clearly confuzzled.

LOVE the smell of healthy goats, horses and hay. Frito feet on a dog, however, indicates a poor choice in dog food, namely something too high in carbohydrates. A healthy dog with a good diet does not have that corn chip smell.

I read something somewhere about the frito feet, can't remember where or what, something about their body chemistry. I've always wondered if it isn't just the salt content in their urine, the backs smell stronger than the fronts, pee feet haha.

Just looked it up again, dogs sweat thru their feet...and corn in food. <shrugs> who knows for sure?

I don't have a barn or livestock, but I do store a couple bales of straw for mulch in a shed and I love the smell.

I love the smell of my small farm, hay, goats, sheep, duck barns, not counting the smell of my Dogs. I feel connected to the land and to the animals, in some funny way.

Sorry. (said with much facetiousness)what you can't read my mind?

I do apologize for such a vague and disjointed post

The first link you posted, which is written by a biology student, states "A bacteria called Pseudomas is renouned for giving off the salty, sweet smell of popcorn". Which triggered me remembering reading about Pseudomas long ago while researching salty dog feet, might have even been the same article . . . Can't Remember Sheet . . . I research and read so much, but my old brain is turning into a seive and I often can't CRS.

I really love this board.... I was pretty sure I was the only person on the planet who smells my goats intentionally.... but I DO like the smell of my milk Mama. I always brethe in the scent of her while I'm milking her. I also smell every goat's ears because LaManchas can be prone to ear infections, and I can smell when their ears are not righting before an infection sets in.

Reading about the scent of dogs reminded me of living in Colorado, in a house heated only by wood heat. I used to love the smell of wood smoke on the dogs coats!
