OT: hubby eating choc covered fruit

Hubby is home. Below is a pic of him and a sample of the choc covered fruit.

His leg is swelling a little bit, and there's a red spot next to the staples that I'm keeping an eye on. We do NOT want a hospital infection.

Well he looks really good. So glad he's home & you can cook like he's used to & take care of him without spending all day at the hospital.

I hope he doesn't end up with an infection in his leg. The fruit looks really good & a little dark chocolate never hurt anyone.

He looks great and I always tell my patients that Vitamin C (chocolate) cures everything!

Good to see him doing well, smiling, and enjoying the treats!

Ohhh those do look nummy! He does look good. I bet he is happy to be home. Yes keep an eye on that spot. My hubby got an infection in his incision when he had stomach surgery and it was a nightmare and it is STILL a problem 3 years later since now it has herniated...again opefully your hubby is on some heavy duty antibiotics?

Well hopefully he heals up well - I'm sure the choc-covered fruit will help! He looks like a real handful with that devilish twinkle in his eye. Is he a good patient or driving you crazy yet? My DH has to be isolated when he's laid up as his temper is so foul at not being able to get up and about, I cant do anything right, so I let him stew in his own juices.

Thats a lovely quilt he has BTW Alice. Did you make it?

Did they start him on antibiotics right after surgery? After I had my rod and screws put in for a severly fractured tib/fib, they had me taking antibiotics. When they told me what those two pills were (I had darn near a dozen I was taking), I freaked because I knew that's what they treat staph in animals with. I lucked out and had no infection.

Yes, they did IV antibiotics. The Home Health nurse is here, and she's pretty sure it's just blood pooling from the anti-coagulant shots they have him on. 40 mg Lovenox every day. Trying to avoid blood clots, which is a good thing.

They tested him (with nasal swabs) for staph before the surgery. That's routine now, apparently.
