Testing Questions

I'm soon going to be pulling blood on my herd to test for CAE. I'm wondering if anyone has a really good explanation - or can send me to a website - on how to package and ship the samples. Do they need to be refrigerated after drawing? What then? Feel free to talk to me like I'm ignorant, because I really am when it comes to this stuff.

When I sent mine to get tested I wrapped the vials in paper towels, put them in a ziplock baggie and then into a small box I got at the post office with more paper towels to keep them from shifting around. The lab said that I didn't need to refrigerate them.

Are you sending it to Biotracking? If so, there are step by step instructions on their site. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll find it for you. P.s. no refrigeration necessary.

I second Biotracking.com. We have used them for several years. They seem to be accurate and their results pages are easy to read. A few years ago, I sent my samples in the heat of summer. At that time, they told me to put in an ice pack. I don't know if you still have to do that or not. I send mine in, in winter now, so I don't have to worry about it.
