Skin Bumps

Only one of my goats has these bumps, and they seem to be going away now, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell what they are, and suggest treatments?

When there are a lot of mosquitos out around here, I notice bumps kind of like those on my goats, especially in areas where the hair is thinner, poor things! Do you have mosquitoes out this time of year there?? Looks like some kind of bug bite...even if not mosquito.

Something in the hay? Do you have foxtails/cheatgrass in the hay maybe? Splinters from the feeder?

There are no splinters on her feed box (it's plastic and smooth), but it might be something in the hay...... I'd not thought of that!

We don't have mosquitos here.... but the bumps reminded me of what we used to call "bot fly" bites on horses when I was a child, but we don't have bot flies here either. There are some regular flies around, but I never see them land on a goat....

Is there ticks out? Mine get bumps like that when ticks bite.

Thankfully we have no ticks here either..... but wouldn't I be seeing something else if it were ticks? Don't ticks burrow?

The bumps were more prevalent over the summer than they are now. The one pictured is actually the largest I've seen. Most of them have been a third that size.

I've never seen anything like that! I'd be inclined to go with bug bites if it weren't winter. (Ticks don't burrow, by the way - they latch on and hang there.. gross!)

I believe I'd see what a vet had to say about them.

Since you said that it was all on the front of their bodies, I would think something to do with the hay...
