Update on Court

The owners contested the charges, so we go to trial on the 22nd. I've subpoenaed 3 additional witnesses (the ACO had already been subpoenaed for today). Wondering what the owners will pull out of their hats (putting it nicely) between now and then...

2 weeks...ugh! I bet you just want this all over with. I guess it could be worse and be 2 months. They probably don't have anything up their hats....just stalling to see if you will hang in there.

The judge looked right at them and said, "If you get it settled between now and then, just notify the court."

At the ACO's suggestion today, I subpoenaed the deputy who arrived before the ACO could get here. I also subpoenaed my mail carrier, who informed us that at least one of the dogs ran loose on a regular basis (she said she was afraid to get out of her car to deliver anything to the owners because the dog scared her). The looks on the owners' faces when the ACO walked in today was priceless; can't wait to see their faces when all of these additional witnesses show up.

Oh my... this happened to me. Neighbours dogs pulled one of my goats through their fence and ripped it to pieces, but since they pulled my goat ONTO their property, the freakin' law was all "Oh well it happened on their property so tough bikkies". I was like, You can SEE the blood on my side of the fence going under the fence and into their property!!!

You will win this and it will be a benchmark for other cases like this. I believe in you.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to come up with some kind of settlement before then because I would think they won't have any witnesses to call on.
Hang in there, your going to win this!

Are the dog owners suing for loss of the dogs or is the goat owner suing for loss of the goats or something else?

I'm suing for the loss of my goats, their kids (each was carrying one, due in March - hubby checked postmortem), loss of milk, loss of future kids, vet bill, medicines and court costs.

Good. I lost so much milk and all my hopes of cheeses and all that waiting because of the neighbour's dogs. All they had to say to me was "I DON'T NEED TO TRAIN MY DOGS." This had happened *after* the neighbours had been warned because their dogs also mauled a chicken and MY CAT [both died, sadly] and they still did nothing about it.

Someone needs to do something about people like this. I'm glad you are.

They wouldn't let me go to court over mine because it "happened on their property". Yeah, the mauling and death did - but my animals did NOT go their of their own volition.

They still deny their animals are a problem too.

This topic is close to my heart.

I'm definitely rooting for justice to be served (as in the dog's owners be hung out to dry)! Good luck!

If your neighbors were mine, the next time their dogs came onto my property, they wouldn't leave. The possums would feed well...
