Mini-mancha ear?

Seeing Nehimama's post got me thinking about the ears.

I am starting a minimancha herd (LM does are due in March). I know they are all going to have elf ears and be F1s. He bucks being unable to be registered. I am going to breed the doelings to the same buck I will breed the LMs to next year (ND with 2 milking stars, not the current sire) I don't want 75 ND, but want the FFs to have smaller babies (if I'm wrong please tell me) and to chose the does with the best udders to keep for F2 breeding. Again, please correct me if I'm making a mistake.

I was then going to cross my LMs with 50/50 buck (since I'll have three unrelated LMs and 2 different sires).

Here I think I will have my foundation 75/25 does and 50/50 bucks to cross for the actual MM herd.

??? Am I overthinking this! ??

Actually the F1's and F2's don't have to conform 100% to breed standards, since they are experimentals. So, bucks with elf ears can be registered in the first generation. That's how you get to bucks with gopher ears after all...otherwise there wouldn't be any.

F1 and F2 can have elf ears in bucks.

Oh, I thought elf ears in the MMs were only allowed for the does. I do recall seeing elf on standard LMs, so I knew they were allowed there.

Frankly, I don't like the elf, than again, since I've never had one, perhaps they will grow on me. After all, adjustment to the gopher after saanen or Nubian is a big adjustment!

I believe in standard lamancha's BUCKS are not allowed to have the elf ears, but DOES can have them. Correct me if I'm wrong, LM people. My hubs won't let me get any because the ears freak him out, and I don't want to put him off helping me with the goats, so I'll hold off for now.

Only bucks with gopher ears can be registered with ADGA. Does can hqve either has long as the elf ears are less then 2 inches long.
