Can anyone help me with milk test info?

I really wanted to go on milk test this year with my girls. I swear they need a "Milk Testing for Dummies" book. I got the info from ADGA. Not very helpful. I have no local goat friends, so have no help there for learning nor testing. ADGA recommended AgSource as the Wisconsin place to test. I just found out it would cost me $101/month to work with them! I'm so glad they took 3 weeks to tell me that, wasting valuable time, grrr...

Can anyone help me out on an easy non expensive way to do this? And anyone willing to deal with a ton of questions? I want to prove my herd, but can't afford to at that price.

Thanks!

Ditto! I have been watching this thread hoping for an answer for both of us! There was a discussion on NubianTalk about it - I think yesterday (?) At least one breeder was saying that she thought it was too expensive for the rewards and that while she loved seeing those milk stars add up, not one customer asked for the records...EVER! Now, to be fair, we have a couple of Bullet Creek goats and Tany wrote in immediately with her usualy to-the-point retort saying that she looks immediately for milk test and when she finds it, says a BIG thankyou to the breeder who was so wise to take care of that end of her business. So....I am interested, but not sure it is affordable.

We were going to do the milk testing too but it cost way to much for our little herd of milkers we have. I show so we are doing all the one day milk test they offer at shows we can find.

Second for Langston, they are great. Never heard of being charged over $100 a month, is that for the tester to come out to your farm?

Yes thru AgSource its $31 plus $70 per month for the tester to come out. I'm waiting for a call from Eva at Langston. I have some I've talked into taking the training with me.
