Pregnant or Not

I have a 10 yr old doe who is in very good health & hasn't kidded in 4 yrs that I know of, and I want to breed her one last time in hopes of a doe or two. My buck has bred her, for 3 heat cycles showing all signs of success, hunching over and her vulva is pointing down. I heard the downward vulva is a sign of pregnancy. I also read that a doe will let the buck mount her even though she may be pregnant. The sign that has me puzzled is the sticky tail. Is there something I can do to help with her fertility? Naturally! I also have a 2 yr doe has never kidded, she has been bred for 3 heat cycles as well, does does hunch thing, but she doesn't have the sticky tail, and her vulva is not pointing down, but my buck doesn't bother her. I do have one though that is on time with her heats, takes every time, but the other 2, nothing is for sure. Is it possible to hear the babies heartbeats with a stethoscope?

I've never heard of the vulva downward idea...Perhaps your does look different because one is a FF and has never had a kid pass thru? I don't think you can here kid heartbeats with a stethoscope. I wonder if your old girl is just too senior to catch since she hasn't been bred in a few years? You could send blood to biotracking for less than $10 to check your does. Good luck.

And remember, your old girl may need special maintenence if she is bred. How are her teeth? Make sure she is able to get enough nutrients to grow those kids.

I'm kinda thinking she might be too old. Her teeth are good and she eats all that she gets with no problem, and I think I will check out the biotracking thanx.

Are their cycles spaced at the typical interval of 18-21 days? I would wonder if they aren't having cystic ovaries perhaps, which could be treated with GnRH, name brand Cystorellin. I would talk to a vet about this maybe. Can you snap a pic of the 2 year old's rear end, including teats if their not too hairy? Are her teats normal size or really small? Had she been exposed to a buck before this year?

10 years old is not too old to breed a doe if she's in good health & all is well. Not being bred for 4 years though might cause it to be harder for her to settle. I agree with talking to the vet about something you may be able to give her to help.

I know some folks here give Bo-Se prebreeding & end up with lots of multiples. Not sure if that would help your girls or not.

If it took the first time, why is she coming back into heat?
I thought once bred, the doe wanted nothing to do with the buck.
