Kids and Goats

Children and goats are so much fun to put together! I have a little metal pot that I strip into pre-milking. I bring in 2 does at a time, and right now I am only milking 4. I have one tall stand and one that is pretty much on the ground. On the first set of goats, I was showing my daughter (just turned 2) the milking and she was watching the milk go into the bucket and I told her I was milking-which she responded to with "mulking". The next set comes in, I wash, strip, milk the first doe. While I am busy straining the milk from that doe, my daughter sticks the strip bucket under the other doe (on the lower milkstand) and says, "mulking!" and starts squeezing her teat! LOL Future milker in the making! Luckily it was one of my very tolerant doe. I tried to show my daughter the proper way to do it, but she doesn't quite get it yet-she will! It was just way too cute.

Sounds like she's going to be a real fast learner!

Well, maybe in the future she will be my mulking partner, but right now for the most part, she adds to the work. She is into everything, and I milk in my father-in-law's completely messy shop-tools and hardware in boxes everywhere-so lots to get into! I think they become cuter at this age, so we don't just drop them off somewhere! LOL.
