Using Lute to sync heats

Was over helping a fellow HT member today, inserting CIDRs in a couple of does. One of them, a Munchie doe that has kidded multiple times, would NOT take a CIDR. She'd seize up, holler, and squeeze the thing right back out as I was pulling out the applicator. I inserted a finger - everything feels normal. Tried a few times and gave up - poor thing was traumatized.

As another option, I mentioned she could use Lute to bring the doe into heat. I know little about this method because my vets are not likely to sell a crazy goat lady lutelyse. *sigh* Anyways...

What is the procedure for using lute to cause heats?

My understanding is it can bring on heats, but not productive heats with ovulation.

I know a lady who uses 1.5cc of lute on each doe the 2nd week of August to start heat cycles and she says usually all the girls are coming in 21 days later, shes she breeds them on that cycle.... Keep in mind, in this Texas heat, sometimes we don't start seeing heat cycles until late September/October, so she claims that using the lute early August makes sure the girls are on track to be bred when she wants them... She also says occasionally she'll still have a straggler who won't cycle in 21 days and they jusr end up coming in later, so it's obviously not a 100% guaranteed thing..

Wonder if you could come up with a lute/pg600 protocal that could get her cycling and ovulating?

Probably could, but I was avoiding having her purchase a whole 35.00 bottle of PG600 when she only has 2 goats.

I used Lutalyse once on a doe who wasn't having regular heat cycles.--gave her one IM injection (the local vet was glad to sell me a single-dose syringe.). Her first heat after the Lute injection was very heavy (long strings of white and yellow goo, constant flagging, very loud...) but she didn't stand well for the buck and wasn't bred. Her following heat was a little quieter but she actually did conceive then.
I think that was in 2006. Since then I've found an easier approach (for me). I don't have a buck on the premises but I do have a buck rag, and after the first exposure to that the does tend to start showing strong heat signs, and the two girls usually come into heat together.

Lute can produce fertile heats during the normal breeding season so long as it is given at least 10 days after the previous heat cycle.
