How to rid items of buck smell?

When we brought our buck(ling) home, we put a nylon collar on him for precautions. We left it on for a couple of weeks and then removed.

We recently brought home a new pup. Was going to use the collar on the pup. I washed with antibacterial soap and scrubbed good and hard with comet with bleach. Even thoroughly dry it still smells like buck pretty bad. Any suggestions or magical potions?

Toothpaste, not kidding toothpaste removes buck smell. As long as it hasn't been set by the other cleaners.

The only thing I've ever found to remove cat urine smell is white vinegar. I'd soak in white vinegar and run though the washing machine.

I think I'd just get a new collar. I have a buck collar in the garage now. I washed it with toothpaste, hot soapy water, been airing it out outside or in the garage for over a year & it still smells bad. I was just going to throw it away but Dh wanted to save it.

I'd use the same thing that I use on the dogs when they get skunked...vinegar and baking soda..it's unbelievable how well it works on skunk perfume.

Put the collar in a bucket or bowl..some hot water to cover it..put a cup of vinegar in and add a a 1/4 or so cup of baking soda..it will fizz up..don't stand directly over it. Let it set for a while..rinse and see if it's better. On Daqs' worse skunk sprays..I've had to do it twice.

Bleach gets rid of the buck odor. Also if you can find some old fashioned lye soap that is fairly strong.

For all things bucky goat soap works. For laundry, sodium bicarb boost to the detergent & a good half cup or so white vinegar in rinse water.
I have extra dog collars come get one.
Where are puppy pics?
