All does bred!

I finally got all of my does bred. They are due in pairs with the dates 10 days apart - so if Betty aborts 20 days early again I should have a baby to bond to her.

I am happy with myself because I finished up all by myself. It took energy to get a big buck away from his friends and 600 feet to the does - the last 50 feet was easy

I also handled getting our water well fixed today - I have been hating doing life by myself(got married in 1982), but this felt good today, it is a step.

Now to get winter seed planted, a pasture fence back up and soap made for my own income!

Congratulations on all you've accomplished so far. Sounds like you've been a busy gal.

I too thought I had enough soap made up to get through Christmas but I think I'm going to have to make a couple more batches this week. I do love making soap.

Still have all my inside Christmas decorating to do too but I did get the last rabbit bred this morning & my 1 doe(Goat) I planned on breeding hopefully is bred & will settle.

My 2 young does' I bought this year were just born in June & although they are growing really nicely I still haven't decided if I'll breed them late this winter or wait until next fall.

I have two doelings that were born in May - they sure want to be bred but I want to wait until spring.

Three of my does that I just bred are FF from spring 2011 - SO much bigger than the does from spring 2012.

Are these the does that are too close to Bob? Did you end up getting a new buck?

OH Kitty - I have some NICE bucks for your does Spot and Dudley were sired by Christy's buck, Midnight. So still some line breeding but pretty far down the line from Bob.

I still have Bob who throws 90% doelings - I really should swap him out with someone but he is such a sweet heart and I can put bucklings with him and he takes care of them and protects them.

I think all of mine are bred too. At least from their appetites... I'm sure Nuggie and Lily are. Not 100% sure about Penny, though. I've still got a yearling doe that I haven't sold yet. I am hoping to sell her bred, but I'm not sure if she "took" after the Great Buck Escape of mid September when everyone else got bred. You are lucky to be able to have your bucks so far from the does. I may be interested in trying Bob with my does next year, depending on how many doelings I get this time around. Last year was 90% bucklings. I blame the drought. That's my story and I'm stickin to it as there was nothing else different in management. We really should get together more often. Did you know that Tracy got out of goats altogether?

I guess so. I emailed her to see if she had any bucklings for sale because I had a customer looking for brown and she told me that she had gotten out of goats altogether because her life was just so hectic. You could email her and ask. Snickers came from you originally, didn't she?

Yes, Snickers was one of my first doelings. Tracy came to me to learn about milking goats and fell in love with Snickers. She was so easy to milk - great for a first time milker.

The last time that I heard from her she was looking for a job and was selling goats - I did not want the ones she was selling but told her that I would want Snickers when she was ready to part with her. I emailed her - hopefully she will reply with good news

Finally heard back from Tracy - She sold Snickers - I am in tears. I have no idea why this girl must hate me to do that to Snickers. NEVER sell a goat that you want back without it being a contract.

I would never want the bad karma No good deed goes unpunished.

I'm sorry. Did she tell you who she sold her to? Maybe you can contact them and offer to buy her if they ever sell.

I asked her for that information. If she does not provide it I will post on craigslist and see if I get a response.

I only knew Tracy because she had posted on craigslist wanting to learn how to milk goats. Kitty had seen it and brought it to my attention. She seemed really nice then and I helped her out with everything. She stopped contacting me when I did not come out and disbud her babies, other than to tell me she needed a job. She must have some really bad karma going now.
