We have SIX WHOLE INCHES of clearance!
We are still working on drying her up. We are down to milking her out every three days. I *HATE* it! She outweighs me by 80+ lbs and is NOT milkstand trained! What a rodeo, every time!
Tonight, since DH has a new job and it is long hours, I talked him into letting me try a CIDR on her, to use hormones to get her dried up.
The problem with drying her up is that what tells a doe to stop producing in milk back-up in the ovieli (the milk producing cells). Her udder is so capricious that milk CAN'T back up in there unless we allow her udder to get to beach ball size (which is completely miserable for her). So, finally talked DH into letting me try hormones.
Got the CIDR in her tonight.....the ONLY thing she has ever been easy about. Took less that 5 seconds! Woosh! Done!
I'll let you know next week if it does any good. I generally have to milk her 2-3 times per week, depending.
We ARE making progress!
Dona, try to come back to THIS thread, as I did answer this.

Haven't gotten the ultrasounds done yet as the good doctor has a full, Pre-holidays student schedule. I am probably just going to pull blood next week.
