Pregnant doe questions
Hello to all, I am hoping this will be my year! Last year I sent out my two does (both were FF the year before) to be bred but in the end neither got pregnant. The silver lining of that situation was that I got to buy another doe in milk, since my girls weren't milking anymore : )
So this year I have two boer bucks on my place and bred all four of my girls to them. I was there for the breedings and held the does, so I know they were bred at least that many times. Now everyone is turned out together. My first question is about my doe who last had kids in Feb. of 2011. She never quite dried up. She gets a pretty full udder and I milk out some every three weeks or so just to make her more comfortable. She should be due to kid in mid Feb. next year. Will that make for any problems? I was figuring I would stop milking at all on the New Year. The other question is, we should have kids born late Jan., ((((brrrr!)))) mid Feb, late Mar., and mid-late April. I would have preferred them all to come at one time but this is the way it worked out. Do you see any problem with introducing younger kids to little bit older kids? (They will kid in a separate stall and be living with thier babies for a week or two before meeting the others.) Thanks everyone.
