My mom and me were just taking about this. What can we do to help, and where do we send it?

Will there be an opportunity to do a monetary gift instead of sending an item?

For me, I would rather do that (through PayPal perhaps?) so she could buy what she needs. I would worry that anything I sent might not be something she could really use and I would feel more comfortable gifting her with the money so that she could put that to what she felt was the best use.

Although I guess a gift card to some place like Jeffer's or her local feed store could be a good alternative (I'm kind of thinking to myself here).

But, yeah, count me in.

Zilli I am going to work on both a registry of sorts so she picks what she needs plus the option of gift cards or pay pal type donations. It will take me a couple days to figure it all out.

As someone who has once lost everything, and had insurance, let me gently suggest you send money instead of items. I know people want to help, but when you're homeless, getting a bunch of donated "stuff" when you don't have your own place, is really hard. You want to be grateful, but you end up stressed. I know her house burned, did her barn burn too? Are you sure she needs these things? My house could burn but my barn (and my goat/sheep supplies) would survive intact. I would like to donate.

Houndlover she has a bottle of lute and needles everything else is gone. Her house was a total loss. I do not know if her garage burnt but she has nothing and it will take weeks for the insurance to get there crap together. At this point I will buy her a rubber made tote to put her supplies in but she does need to have a few things on hand in case something happens with one of her goats.

What might be more effective, however, is to get together some money as a group (paypal acct?) and buy her a gift card to Jeffers.
