OT - update on hubby

Hubby was outed as NON compliant by his nurse at the hospital. Intervention was held via my chewing him out and the sons texting their points of view. He was compliant at the next physical therapy session and walked 40 feet, then sat upright on the side of the bed for nine minutes.

He was moved to the local skilled nursing and rehabilitation center (1/2 mile from the house instead of 40 where the hospital is located) by 5:00 PM Friday, and things are looking MUCH better.

I'm bringing goat milk to the center (have to sign a release for him to have it in his room!), and Paleo/Primal food. The dietitian is freaked out. Real food? No carbs? No grains?? What??? She had to google it.

I am planning on getting a good night's sleep tonight, and then we'll work into our schedule as he recovers.

Oh...Small town good karma kicked in when I talked to the Social Worker at the hospital this morning about what to do next. Turns out that the director at our home town Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he needed to be moved to is someone we've known for thirty years or so. DFK.tman's nurse now that he's moved is the mother of students I taught at Louise High School. The facility ombudsman is someone we've know forever, as she used to work at our small, locally owned bank, then at the high school where our sons graduated. One of the janitors used to be one of my renters. I love small towns.

Keep praying for his motivation!!

If he is willing to read here, I will happily tell him what happens if he doesn't work hard right now. Broken hips run in my family and I have generations of experience with the results. Both men and women.
I will pray for him to listen but I think he should worry more about what Alice thinks.

Praying for him to be a good, obedient man, both to his Deity of choice, and to his physical therapist!

Hoping for a smooth recovery for him. It's great that he could get so much closer to home and I'm sure knowing so many people will make you feel confident in his care.

And good luck with that dietician. I've dealth with the one I work with, she is so keyed into the percantages of needs that she can't see the forest between the trees. She really is clueless to safe, all natural foods and believes processed foods will save us all-scary.

So glad he's closer to home for you Alice & it sounds like he should get excellent care since everyone knows you & the family. Sure hope your hubby listens & does what the therapist says or you may have to knock him on the head to wake him up!
Speedy recovery for your hubby & continued sanity for you.

Go get 'em, Alice! My father was in a facility once and we, too, had to sign a release to get him goat's milk. He was a diabetic and controlled it by diet and was 100% sure that goat's milk was a major part of why he did well.

Alice, I want you to know that I admire you greatly and that you are one of my favorite people. I "get" your humor and admire your strength and tenacity through all of your trials. I hope this situation with your hubs is just a minor bump in the road for you winter months and that you will return to MO in the spring with new babies and a mind free from worry. Thanks, Alice, for all of your help this past spring. That boy has bred two girls already. Thanks again...

Hey Alice. I'm sure glad that your hubby has you in his corner. I have no doubt that you will take the bull by the horns and get hubby on the path to a quick recovery.

It's really great that you can get him more local. Please take good care of yourself!

I still think you should bring over some goats to visit with him...

You know that I am totally thrilled that your intervention worked, and I continue to lift all of you up in prayer.

Alice, as I get to know you better, you are becoming one of my favorite people on earth.

Thank you everyone!!! I'm heading out to get him a radio for his room. The football game starts at 11:00, he tells me.
