3 out of 4 isn't bad

Went out this morning to see the buck I rented breeding 3 of the 4 does. All 3 he bred more then once and I saw the semen evidence on the vulvas. The doe he didn't breed hasn't ever shown signs of heat and last year the bucks were not interested in her even with her being CIDR'd. I have a strong suspicion she is either infertile or she's a hermie. The breeder refuses to make it right. The bucks treat her like a wether...

However the buck has this idea that I'm next in line for breeding. I cannot go in with him, he's way too big at over 200#. He is sweet but holy crap is he in love with me to the point I'm going to get hurt. He literally broke through our chain link fence and gate today just by rubbing hard on it when he saw me walk up to feed. Can't wait for big stinky to go home so I can give my girls a bath. Blah! I will never own a buck I will never own a buck...

So glad at least 3 of your does' most likely were bred. Can't do much about the other one if she never settles there is a reason.

I always Love our bucks, most of them anyways. The new little mini nubian buck we have is a sweety.

Once I had a doe who never did settle. Atually two. They were cousins& had the same sire. For all intensive purposes they were normal, except one wasnt very feminine. Finally had one butchered; she had no ovaries!

It is way too cold for baths. The dirt & aroma WILL go away.

Good on the 3 that settled..maybe number 4 is a free martin? We have one I think. And she is the greatest red with white markings, I keep exposing her, but it never works out.

Barge, our first boer buck was shared by me and 2 friends for our small herds. Gotta tell ya..he was a big loving peach until rut hit. All three hubbies had to deal with him as he was after we three wives. Soon as rut was over, he was fine and dandy. That's aggravating for sure.

Nancy I have fiberglass dog tubs that go in my garage. They have hot water hook up as well as warm air dryers. They will be down right toasty. They will be able to hang in the garage until they acclimate to the cold outside. I won't ever let my babies get chilled. I probably won't bathe Butter because other then milking season and hoof trimming I don't handle her that much as she prefers. But Spice and Nilla are all over me. I don't like buck smell at all. It permeates everything.

I'm praying Spice gets bred. I will be really bummed if she is sterile.

Great! I'll bring Darlin to your place for a Man Day Spa.
