Vet called. screwed up test results

I had such a great day. My coworkers threw a mini party for my birthday coming up cuz I''m taking a week off. It was so touching. I walked in this morning to an office and treatment area full of black streamers and balloons and happy birhtday stuff all over. Then. between surgeries, everyone was there and we had cake and lots of gag gifts for turning 50. It was so great. I didn't want to come home because I was afraid of my answering machine. I got home and there were 2 msgs. We hardly ever have ANY messages so I thought for sure I was getting the results. Nope...both messages were about other issues. Then one of my co workers called (heart stops when phone rings) and said she had 20 bucks in her purse and she was taking me out for a BD drink and was on her way. (this never happens) Went to the bar down the road and had food/drinks and laughs and fun (did the vet call yet is almost blinding me) get home and go directly to machine..1 msg. blinking at me. Play. dogs start barking and I can't hear....but know it is the vet. "SHUT THE X UP!" listen again. He said he called the lab and the Direct PCR was positive. He told them we did not want a direct PCR we wanted a culture with the feces with PCR confirmation. They have enough that they can do that. The ELISA blood test is not done yet.
But in my mind...it's 2 tests now that came out positive.
I am being stoic and stuffing. I think it's good that I have a week off and my mom is coming to visit. I refuse to think about how such a good day could go wrong in a non-confirming way. I loved on all my goats tonight and they have no clue that I am churning. They just know they are loved more than anything.

yes..the original test was Direct PCR. I wanted a culture grown from the feces that showed Johnes and then confirmed with PCR. That can take several weeks. I also submitted blood for a serum test and that has not been done yet. That should have been done by now.

Oh man what a roller coaster ride. Glad they gave you a great birthday party and you got to relax and have fun for a while. Sorry the lab screwed up. But they are human and we all make mistakes.

happy birthday my fellow scorpio! I now think of you every year at this time.

And what a bummer about the test being screwed up.....and having to listen to results you don't want even more times. I'm thinking of you and those goat children of yours and hoping for some peace and happiness.

Well I turned 50 earlier this year so it's about time you caught up! Sounds like your friends from work gave you a nice party & your mom coming for a visit will be nice for you too.

Take it 1 day at a time with the goats. You don't even have the tests results back for the tests they were supposed to run so as long as Gretta is feeling & doing well try not to worry about the "What if's" right now. We're all going to be here for you if that time comes & you need us.

I just wanted you to know I've been following along and am so rooting for your Gretta.

I haven't even owned goats in years and I know how you love your little herd. I have decided she will be fine and so that is that. Hmmph.

Happy birthday, Minelson. Many happy returns, for you and the whole assorted troop.
