My Poor little Buck & wether!

We go down to do chores this morning & I have 1 doe in a raging heat that started last night so she is yelling most of the night probably & all morning.
I get to the buck pen & my buck has blood on him but not near as much as more poor little wether. he's a white silky fainer & his rear end is now got blood all over him. I get a bucket of warm soapy water & put each one on the stand to see what's going on & where the blood is coming from but I already have my ideas.

It's the buck, he's got himself raw is the only thing I can think of trying to mate with the wether. The buck is just 5 months old but I guess he figures he's all grown up.

Is there anything I should do for him or will he heal up & be fine? I couldn't see blood coming from anywhere but saw him unsheath & he looks raw.

What about breeding him if he's willing & ready? Should I wait until my does' next heat? I'm only breeding the 1 doe this fall beacuse I think my 2 new little mini nubians are too young still since they were just born the 1st of June.

Sorry such a long post. Just thought I'd give the whole scenario.

its kinda an awkward thing to treat but maybe some A&D ointment type stuff it would heal it fast and protect the rubbings.. might need to wash it off before breeding, you may even have to remove the wether or divide them somehow.

I do not envy you a bit with that job

Oh no! He sure must be horny to hurt himself over it geesh! I would separate them. But I don't know anything about bucks. I just feel sorry for the wether and the crazy buck.
(((hugs)))

Is it wrong that this had me giggling??

Poor lil wether, that buck is taking the term "companion" a bit too far....

I'd clean him off, maybe with a lil chlorhexidine, and maybe try a lil ointment like Cannon suggested..

Probably wouldn't hurt to remove the wether until things settle down a bit

I cleaned the buck up the best I could this morning with a soft cloth & some warm water in a bucket that I added antibacterial soap. I can't believe we're talking this obscene stuff but it doesn't look like the wether has been penetrated at all, the blood was all over the sides of his thighs(I should have specified better) & he has long white hair so that looks worse than it is. I think Gus has rubbed himself almost raw trying to do the deed though with Daisey Yelling from the other side of the barn. Gus is only 5 months old so I thought he wouldn't be ready yet.

I washed Bentley(wether) off the best I could but don't want to give him a bath because it's too cold here for that now.

Daisey escaped twice. I watched her the 2nd time to see how she was getting out but she is using one of the sides of the lean too & jumping off that & over the cattle panels!
I hope she's done with this months heat tomorrow. I'm waiting to catch her in the buck pen. And most folks here complain about the bucks escaping!

The buck bleeding from being raw is a new one for me.

I do have Desitin & will see if I can get that on Gus tomorrow. What fun!

I can see where this would be concerning.

It's also reminding me of helping a freind who insisted we clean her new gelding's sheath...

I'll leave the room now...

Everyone seems to have calmed down today & no more blood on anyone, thank Gosh!! Now were good until the 2 young does' start coming into heat & I don't plan to breed them until next year since I think they are still to young/small.
