Off topic - Hubby broke pelvis

My husband was mowing the sides of a steep ditch in front of the house in Texas. No one ELSE will mow that. We use weedeaters for a reason.

The riding lawnmower rolled on him and his pelvis is broken in two places. Possibly his pubic bone also. Surgery today.

I'm packing up here in Missouri. I had planned to go back on Friday, but I'm working on moving that up. Have good neighbors pitching in to get the winter shut down tasks done.

Say a prayer for fast healing for Dan.

Oh, my gosh. Just got a series of phone calls. First from Dan saying he had been moved to the hall on his gurney because of a bad wreck with injuries coming into the hospital. Then he called to say he had three broken ribs, but they didn't think his elbow was broken. He said he was in no pain.

THEN, he called to say the bone specialist says they are not going to need to do surgery, and that he can heal on his own.

I'm still packing up and shutting down the houses I'm remodeling here. Have to see the lawyer and bank on the estate I'm executor of.

I think I'm rambling. More news later.

Hang in there Alice. I'm sure your mind is going a million miles a minute and will be impossible to get everything done. It doesn't have to be perfect. You can back track afterwards and be amazed by how some things take care of themselves. (((HUGS)))))

That is great that there is no surgery - surgery is usually for the problems caused by the broken pelvis. He must have some awesome drugs going thru him to have no pain with all of those broken bones!

Good thoughts going your way . . . .

He has a high pain threshold anyway, thank goodness. What is really impressive is that he's not in worse shape. He's been on prednisone for 18 years since the kidney transplant, and his bones are still strong enough not to have CRUSHED.

He says it's due to "GOOD GOAT MILK!"

Sending my prayers too of course Alice for Dan & for your safe trip back to Texas. You sure have a full plate most of the time it seems. When things finally slow down for you I think you'll need a little vacation!
Hope Dan heals quickly & without any surgery or complications.

Oh my goodness!

Alice, I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! Geez tell Dan to take care and you be careful driving. Let us know when you make it. In the meantime, prayers from northwest Iowa are being sent. You have helped me so much! Just take care and get a little rest for yourself. He may need you in the next several whiles! Pain tolerance may be high, but he's not up walking on that yet, nor breathing with full weight on those ribs. Take care, please!
