Hurricane Sandy
Just been watching Hurricane Sandy on tv. Such a large area is involved and I just hope that all our goat people are safe. My prayers are with you all and your livestock. Please, let us know if you are in the way of this storm and if you are okay.

Yup, I sit at work all night while not being able to be at home for this nonsense. Worried SICK about the goats and the horses. DH is there, but he probably won't be out there every hour like I would have...

Oh Becky..I am sorry. Please try not to worry..I will sure say a special prayer for your animals and your hubby! I'm a stewer..doesn't have to be a problem about me..I stew for everyone. I think you have a tougher job sitting there at work than being at home with your critters.
Will you be able to get back and forth between work and home? Please be careful!

I reported for night shift and had to stay at the station between this morning and my current night shift. Tomorrow morning I will be going home if I have to swim there.

Oh Becca...that sounds so hard. Stupid weather is all I can say. It's keeping hubby away from me when I need him most.
Please stay safe! Praying!

We are getting walloped with really bad winds here in little old Ancramdale NY....let's not even talk about the gusts! Our greenhouse is blowing away piece by piece I am worried about my goats, and my mini lops as their barn sits right on the tree line I had to keep running in and out of the barn really quick trying to feed them in between the gusts because with every gust I heard the trees cracking so scarey!

It's been very rainy and windy here all day, but the worst is projected to come in overnight with wind gusts over 60mph. All of the animals are tucked into the barn with an abundance of food in case we can't get out there on schedule...the goats think they're in hay heaven. But our barn has an uninsulated metal roof and the rain and wind are so loud in there, especially the wind. I hate it, and would bring the goaties in the mudroom, but I know it'd freak them out more.
So, they're hopefully being distracted by their hay and we're in the house being distracted by chili and cornbread! It's dark now and getting too bad to go outside, so wish us luck

Extra bedding for the hog ,left the barn door open so the horse can get in out of the rain a little extra corn in there dinner yesterday I set out a big round bale for the cows ,I was hopeing the pasture would last so as not to feed hay till the end of november .put a couple feed sacks around the rabbit cage with a new 3 day old litter .started up the generator and ran some wire into the cabin in case the electric go'es out 'alls running. Just as the rain changes over to snow with the evenings shadow the wind is howling up on the ridges I'm glad I went and bought a ton of coal last week as the stove feel pretty good as I shake it up to watch the weather channel and looking out the window I see the old pickup coverd in about an inch already . The rapid change in temps has got to be rough on the livestock all last week it was in the 70's but I'v done what I can for em there tougher than you think ,the better than average care they recive year round will help em get through .in my area there are a couple differint forcast one up to 2feet of snow I'm hoping for the best .in the dark as the wind sings I'm a little better off with shelves filled with home grown canned produce and meats gravity fed spring water and fat livestock on the hoof, so thank mother nature for that .those who depend on a cook in the corner deli .and the electric company for warmth, hope you come through ok.

Sorry..yes,I'm fine...the wind is whipping, lost power at 3:30 because a electric pole snapped in half on my fathers property..quite a few branches are down all over my yard.. my Greenhouse is still intact even though it is in the direct path of the wind storm..know the wind will be going strong all night long which scares me..I made sure I took pm pills so I can sleep all night..
