Anyone in NC?

We are new to the goat thing! So far we have 5 goats. We have 3 preggo, one 8 month that we just bought and one buck. Only 2 are registered. I have breed my 3 does to our buck, (which is registered) and expecting them late Feb. or early March. I have two of them have a cow each and one stall has my buck and my biggest doe. He is still in rut and I don't want to risk him breeding my 8 month old. She sure wants him though! But anyways, we are in the process of adding another pasture to our existing one that way our cows can run out there and our current one can be used only for our babies when they are born. We are going to transition our barn to be a nursery for our mommas and kids. We are also going to eventually have a milking parlor built in the back. Looking to increas our heard and start showing as well. We love to visit other goat farms and are very interested in goat dairy. (our ultimate goal!)

Welcome to the goat forum! We are so glad to have you!

We must, however, instill the "rules" into new folks. The biggest rule is: PICTURES! Post pictures of your goats so that we can ooh and ahh over them and tell you how pretty they are!

(To post pictures, upload them to a photo sharing site such as photobucket or flickr. Then copy and paste the [IMG] links into your post here. )

On breeding, 8 months old is not too young provided she makes weight. Most folks do not go by age, but by the weight of the doe. 80+ lbs is a good weight for first breeding.

What kind of goats do you have?
