We got 4th. I'm pretty happy with it because a) it's his first show and b) in "the big one" this would have gotten us to the auction. We've got another show next weekend and then one in November that I haven't decided about because its 2 hours away.

Ideally I'd like to pull him up into the top three. The critique I got from the judge was that "he doesn't shape up well enough when he's on profile". Can anyone decipher this for me? I wanted to ask but we had to hurry up and leave and the judge was still judging. I'd like to fix this if I can.

I know what the profile part means... Just not what he means by shape.

You did good. Every judge has a different eye for different things. some are experienced and for some it is their first show. take his comments and use them to build on your boy. My advice is to hang his grain high against the wall so he has to stand and stretch to reach it. 15 minutes a day of this will inprove his mid topline back which makes for a nicer profile..Just a part of our show regiment.good luck with him. You make me miss showing with my daughter.

You done good! Keep taking him. It all depends on judge. I had one place third one day in a huge class & at the bottom the next; same goats different judge.
If I had show 2 hrs away I'd sure do it!

Congratulations! Sounds like you did really well for your 1st show. I would continue to take him if you really liked it, 2 hours isn't that far away.
