Saanen doe/LaMancha buck?

What the blazes would such a match look like? White Saanens(of course) bred by black/white purebred reg. La Mancha buck? Looks like we're going to be doing this. The does haven't been bred in several years, one maybe never, and ages 7 and two of them are 5 yrs. Have agreed to buy a 2 yr old large nice purebred reg'd LaMancha buck just a few miles away. He has 2 nice daughters from last year I've seen. Just don't want to spend a huge amount on a buck til we see if these girls WILL breed and carry. What do ya think???

White offspring, elf ears. Both dominant.

That doesn't sound bad. Does that ALWAYS hold true? The off-spring ought to be milking machines! May have to keep one around long enough just to find out.

There is a saying that a gopher-eared Lamancha can take the ears off of an elephant. If this buck is registered, he is gopher-eared. So if bred to a normal eared doe, the kids will have elf-ears.

I have seen the Saanen coloring remain true over 4 generations of breeding to colored animals.

So yep, white, elf-eared, heavy-milking doelings are in your future.

I have Samanchas - LaMancha mom, Saanen buck (both registered, for what it's worth).

Mom has gopher ears and the babies (17-month old doe from last year and a doeling and a buckling from this year) have elf ears.

The babies are white, although the doe from last year is actually kind of tannish/white, with a couple of small black spots on one side and a small black spot on the other (mom is solid black).

The two from this year (full siblings to the older doeling) are more of a true white, although the little boy looks like he may be trying to take on a bit of the tannish tinting.

I will be breeding the older doeling this winter (if she ever comes into heat; so far, I'm not seeing it). She will be bred to a Saanen buck, but I wish I could find a well-bred Samancha buck to breed her to because I would love to see where this cross could go.

I'm looking forward to finding out how she does on production - her mom is a pretty good producer and her sire is one of the bucks from a working dairy, and has been bred for production and show. She will be bred to another, unrelated, buck from the same dairy.

I have to say, my Samanchas have wonderful personalities. All three of them are extremely friendly and affectionate and loving (I tend to think they have the best of the two breeds). The older doeling is already comfortable on the stand and would probably stay there all day without too many complaints (unlike her mother, who freaks out if I step more than a few feet away from the stand); she already has no problems with my touching her all over and even tugging on her teats. She's very laid back and calm and easy-going.

I love them!

I have an old doe that is 1/4 Saanen, 1/4 Nubian, 1/4 Toggenburg, and 1/4 pygmy - and she's solid white. She's also short-legged and barrel-bodied. LOL

Not a particularly good-looking girl but she was a pretty good milker "back in the day" for being 1/4 pygmy (around a gallon a day).

Saanen doe/LaMancha buck? - Goats

Meet Winky - Saanen dam, LaMancha sire

I have no idea what color the dad was. I also have two Snubians, their dam was multicolored but both babies were white. I wouldn't expect too much color, white is pretty dominant.

She has been bred back to an American Saanen. I'm curious to see what happens with the ears. Her's are elf.

One of the very nicest goats I've ever seen was part saanen part Lamancha

Goat Detail: KISMET VWX TANNA - E000554517 (ER Doe GCH)

She looked like a white lamancha but with a large basketball udder, nice attachment.
