Spring has sprung (pics). Warning: Disney level cuteness.

It really is amazing how fast they grow - this is my goatlings at 6 days old. Love, love, love!!!!

Question for the CGLs - how long do the horn buds take to protude? The doeling has barely a bump on her head, while the buckling has noticeable bumps pushing up. Both parents are horned Saanens, but a recessive gene from each parent could mean one of twins is naturally polled, correct?

Glad you like them - thank goodness for the digital age, as those 4 pic are the final product of 106 photos! I kid you not (pun). Those little boogers move so fast - I culled about 50 pics with the head suddenly out of shot or a leg.

So far beyond adorable that it hurts!

The one with the kitty and the one with mama and babies on pasture should be on a calendar. Very seriously.

By the way, it's positively breathtaking where you live. What I'd do for so much lush, gorgeous grass!

Oh, dear lord. I know you warned us, but the caution wasn't strong enough.

You owe me a new laptop as it slid off my lap and broke as I fainted from the adorableness of it all

Ahhh, to see pictures of spring, you must be down under. After a long summer of drought most of us have forgotten that the color of green even existed!

Those babies are so cute, can't help but smile. That first one is hilarious!

Thank you. That abundance of grass is the very rich spring flush, so in addition to goat babies and daffodils announcing spring here, I have a half crazed young horse hooning around on a sugar-high!

My husband and I have been trying to move to NZ for the past 5 years (turned down because hubby hadn't finished his schooling)
So now that he has finished we could...but his boss convinced him to stay for another 3 years because there's a Mormon temple going up that they will likely run the plumbing and electrical for.

I am now officially quite grumpy about that

Lucky for my dear husband it has remained very green here, but I'll probably punch him in the gut when it snows.

Don't give up. You'll get here - the residency process and then buying land can be real headache, but it's worth it. Good luck! Where did you consider living? There's two climates here - the north is subtropical, while the deep south gets snowy winters. We live about as far north as you can go without falling into the sea. If you leave the main cities far beind you can buy land cheap and live like the natives in paradise :-)

Oh...my...Lord...in....Heaven....

~THWACK!~ ~BANG!~ ~WHACKA!~ ~THUNK!~

*sounds of Caliann going into cuteness overload convulsions and falling off of her bed onto the floor, and taking laptop, lamp, and nightstand with her*

A weak voice from the floor whispers, "You'll seen horns pop through by 10 days on bucks, and 14 days on does."

Yep, Caliann's right about the horns. If you're wanting to disbud you need to do it NOW, if not sooner. I don't believe you'll ever get a random polled kid out of 2 horned parents. It's my understanding that polled is dominant, so a goat with one set of polled genes and one set of horned genes will be polled. That means that if both parents are horned, they must have 2 horned genes, and therefore cannot pass on a polled gene which they don't have.
