Thanks, Ford Zoo. Good article. I'm going to take advantage of the "silver lining" this week and seed some good winter goat forages in my over-grazed horse pasture. Can't put anyone in there right now anyway, nothing to eat!

I like the mineral feeder article. Has anyone else tried this or anything like this? I feed loose salt in pvc pipe feeders and the goats would always spill it all over the ground and kill anything growing around it. We also have problems with the wind blowing anything loose out of the pvc. I wonder if this would work? How would you go about training them to use this?

I really wanted to see this- especially about the mineral feeder. But after waiting for dial up to load it, all that came up was a giant picture of goats ambling through a river.
No article at all. Waaaaaahhhhhhhhh...............

Did the arrows show up on top of the page to turn the pages?

Try clicking on the upper right hand corner of the magazine page. Mine didn't get an arrow, they just turned.

I think that mineral feeder would also work for other things that need to get free fed, like baking soda, or even alfalfa pellets.

It's on page 22.

I've tried to click on everything that came up- the only success was to turn the picture blue. I do have the worlds oldest computer and very slow dial up.
But thanks for trying to help.

WIWT, try this link: Goat Rancher – Goat Rancher September 2012 : A Forage Shortage Due To The Continuing Drought Could Lead To Nutritional Problems,Says Dr. Dave Sparks

That *should* bring up the article without the dial-up-clogging pictures or powerpoint slides.

This: Goat Rancher – Goat Rancher September 2012 : Makin should bring up the article on the mineral feeder. Unfortunately, it doesn't make nearly as much sense without the pictures. :/
