Pleasent Places Skywalker

or as we have started calling him Luke. I forgot how rank a buck in full rutt could smell
but here is our man for the year
Pleasent Places Skywalker - Goats
pardon his stance but hes being a buck

Pleasent Places Skywalker - Goats

Pleasent Places Skywalker - Goats

His pedigree is
CH Cams Menagerie Dumas Walker who is out of Amberwoods Vikings hero ++b & Ch Cams Menagerie Saw Panasea

Dam is pleasent places Cocoa puff (very nice doe but the herd owner doesnt do anything but milk all of there stock is the best of Cams and shes already passed away but I seen her several years ago)

I didnt get to see his dam but did get to see the past 4 generations of his daughters which is why I wanted him so badly,.

his rump is a bit steep but not as much as it seems because of his mowhawk and I am sure as the world not going to be shaving him anytime soon.

Yay!!!!! So happy you found a boy to use, and a pretty one too!

Looked at my boy Tonka & he's looking steep in the rear, which I KNOW he isn't..... I used him on a steep rumped doe because I was really hoping for a doeling out of her with a more level rump (& I got it!)

Anywho, my daughter says it's because his neck is all blown up, his hair is sticking up & he's doing the "man walk" With Tonka, his hair from neck to hips is REALLY long, and the rest is short because he CHEWS it off (yea, I watched him..... Thought he had some sort of external parasite, but he just bites the hair) so the difference between topline & rump looks freakishly drastic....... Needless to say, I won't be showing off any pics of him for a while

Hoping that boy gives you lots of doelings! It's great to use a buck whose daughters you've got to see & love.

Pretty boy. I like his colour. I used to have a son of Amberwoods Viking Hero(Old Glory Nordic Hero was his full name, if I remember correctly). He was blue roan and threw a lot of colour!

So how did he do for you? Curious on why you don't have him anymore

thank you for the nice words. I did not research the line as well as I should of but bought him bases upon what I have seen him produce which is why I asked Emily why she no longer had the buck out of the same line. I really hope he gives me what I want between the two bucks I am super excited about this coming kid crop

Oh, even if I still had him, he would be 10 years old. I'd guess he is dead now.
Long story.......I bought Hero(paid an amazing amount now that I think of it!) as a yearling from the gal who had bought him from Jean Baugh of Old*Glory. While she had him he was attacked by dogs, they ripped up his side really badly but the vet was able to save him. The way he had to stitch the gaping hole, left Hero with serious scarring. He was also seriously underfed(as were all this persons goats), and very small as a yearling. As I started feeding him properly, he started growing in leaps and bounds. But as he started growing, his scarring caused him skin to stretch extremely tightly around his penis. This caused him to be unable to naturally breed a doe.
I was able to breed him twice, by manually helping him insert in the doe. But as he was still growing it was becoming harder and harder as the scarring kept growing too. Finally he couldn't breed at all.
I contacted Jean at Old*Glory before deciding what to do with him. I could only see putting him down. She wanted his genetics and planned on having him collected and used via AI. She said if I could get him to her place in Old Glory, Texas, she would trade me a young buckling for Hero.
So I took him home and traded for Tuxedo whom I used for several years before trading genetics again.
I got three doelings out of him from those two breedings. I liked two of them. I hated the third and sold her without papers. If I were to fault him for something, it would be consistency. He had none with the three doelings. They all had the same dam. But the nice two were NICE.
Here is his ADGA pedigree:
Goat Detail: OLD*GLORY NORDIC HERO - N001245902 (PB Buck)

As you can see from his progeny page, I am the only one who ever registered kids out of him. Don't know what happened to Jeans plans to get him collected.

Anyway, the long story of why I no longer have Hero.
