Since y'all are so helpful ...
I have spent the past 2.5 hours lying on a blanket in the middle of the pasture by Ms. Moo while her water broke and she had contraction after contraction. Then out of nowhere she jumps up, licks the birth water off her legs, sucks it up off the ground and walks off.
Where is the BABY?
What do I do now?

I would get her out of the pasture and lube up and go in with my hand and check and see if there is a tangle going on.

How hard have her contractions been, and for how long? When did her water break? Without being there, to see, I would go in, too!
PS: what sort of critter is Ms Moo?

I have a good friend who lost a Highland cow and her calf just like this. Labor, then nothing. A necropsy showed that the calf was breech and died. The cow died days later.
Don't wait.

Ms Moo is a Guernsey
Her water has been broken since right at 5pm about 2 hours ago.
She was lying in the pasture for about 45 minutes before the water broke breathing heavy.
I have no lube. I do not know what to feel for if I stick my hand in there!

We'll be waiting, praying, and hoping for Ms. Moo and her baby! Remember to post pics!

I use vegetable oil or mineral oil for the goats. Could you do that for a cow? Is there someone you can call to talk you through it?
How long till your vet gets there? Hopefully really soon and my above Comment is moot.
Praying here!

It's good the vet is coming! Pulling a calf is hard work. I hope it turns out well.

Hoping for the best! Please update when you can & a picture of the calf would be great too, we don't care if it's a baby goat or not!

Praying for a good outcome. Next time don't worry about lube, she has provided a natural lube. I have pulled a few calves and it is a work out!
