Hay feeder

OK I started this today and its sorta finished I have another idea to expand and create a small house for underneath...but that's another story for another day
Got tired of the hay wastage, using the picnic table wasn't any better cept it did keep it off the ground until they knocked it off...
I hope this will decrease hay loss to a minimum and also allow for grain feeding so without further ado...

I have one similar to that. Mine is lower to the ground though which was a big mistake. The pigs escaped into the goat pen Friday and one of my sows was standing in it munching away. I don't know if it's really windy there. If it is I suggest putting two solid latches on the top if you haven't already because the wind pulled our top right off.

I think you did a great job!

ya my mom took pics of me making it LOL
The only new wood I bought for it was 4 2x4x8 studs (non treated) all the rest came off of other projects I been working on.

all that hay on the ground is waste from before ...my mom and I raked it up and using it for bedding in the buck house WHICH I am still working on...sometimes I get tired heh

I think You did a wonderful Job! You should be very proud of yourself!
We got one of those plastic barrels & want to try making a couple of those feeders that someone put up here a few weeks ago too.

Oh yes I saw that..was thinking of a couple of those for my girls.

forgot the idea wasn't mine for the hay feeder, a guy was selling one on CL for $175 ...I didn't spend near that.. about 10 dollars for the 2x4's, rest of wood and cut cattle panel I already had here

Wow that is cool

I had built a hay feeder last year but kids jump in. After I lost my buck to coccidiosis I stopped using that hay feeder.

now I am using the below one I just quick fixed. It works great but there is some hay loss.

Hay feeder - Goats

Your design is inspiring. I am going to improvise my feeder. Than the hay loss I don't want my goats to eat the spill hay from ground. I don't want to lose them to coccidiosis.

Thanks for the pics.
