Cool Vacation, pics & slightly goat related...

Wanted to share some of our vacation pictures....... Was kind of a last minute, thrown together vacation as my 9 year old just had a case of appendicitis mid June & we had to wait for the surgeon to clear him for swimming, but even without much planning we had a lot of fun........

Pics here :

"The Adventures of Noodleville": Fun in the Sun

Went to Galveston and really had a good time....

On the drive up we would pass signs for towns, or drive through towns where fellow forum members/goat friends lived & I'd point it out to hubby ("Hey! Christy lives here") & commented that if we moved to the area he wouldnt have to drive so far when I wanted new goats....

Lil further on the trip, we were headed south on I-45 just approaching Houston & there was graffiti on several signs, concrete walls, and even on the top, front of the overpasses (How do they get it up there??!).... Most notable about it was it was all the word "GOAT" in black spray paint.... And the overpasses had "GOAT GOAT GOAT GOAT"....

After spotting this in 5 different spots hubby glances over and says "So, which of your goat friends lives in the immediate area?"

Not a clue why they painted the word "goat" all over, but I assured him I was 95% sure it wasn't anyone from the forums

Oh, another goat related tidbit... The ocelot exhibit in the rainforest pyramid had a fun info sheet on the glass.... Stating things like habbits, favorite activities, diet, and it said the ocelots favorite treat was fresh goat's milk..... A woman who looked to be in her late 30's was standing by us reading it & said: "Huh! Wonder how they got the goat to nurse a grown cat?"

With no hesitation, my 7 year old daughter said "Are you kidding me? They milk the goat & feed the milk to the cat" Then she gave me a disbelieving look & went back to watching the ocelot.....

Lady then says: "Oh no, they don't milk goats, only cows"

My daughter glances at me and I give her a "leave it alone" look because I just knew scarcasm was the next thing slotted to come out of her mouth.... So she waited a lil while, then politely told her about dairy goats & to finish off the tale she said "You can even google it"

ROFLOL! Congratulations on teaching your daughter such amazing manners! My 13 and 14 year old would have ignored "Mother's Evil Glare" and launched into a full scale description of "How to Milk a Dairy Goat Who Produces More Than Some Cows". Dd19 would have joined me in hiding behind the nearest exhibit as we cheered them on!

Sounds like a fun vacation!

That sounds like fun!

I promise you that *I* wasn't the one who spray-painted "GOAT" on the overpass.....I am terrified of heights. But you DID drive right past me.

I am imagining my DDs (Foster - 26, bio- 22) launching into exceptionally sarcastic lectures to that poor lady. "Are you joking? Do you live under a rock? 70% of the milk in the WORLD comes from goats! " and on and on and on, until the woman would be forced to flee or become a goat expert on the spot.

LOL Betsy!

Caliann, that was EXACTLY what I was worried about! Finesse is NOT Shayla's strong point....... But "the look" made her stop just in time & when she did speak it was informative, with *most* of the disbelieving sarcasm tightly tucked away..... At least until the lady walked away

So.... If you say you didn't do the overpass, are you hinting that you may have done the signs & lower concrete walls??

I dunno Caliann..... Some of that goaty graffiti looked pretty old .... I think I may have happened across your old hobby & you just don't want the truth being leaked to the world.....

Ranger, lol I LOVED that pic, Shayla yelled "Mommy look I'm doing a hand stand, take a picture!" And I knew before I even snapped it that it was going on my blog
