Sneaky Boy

I was out with the girls this morning and usually Skwiss won't turn her back to me but this morning she did. Ummmm...she has a bag. Jagger was in with the girls until late march. He must have discovered his "special purpose". Now I'm looking at Tilly and Jem and they're getting a little chubby in the udder area too.

While part of me is happy that I may be getting babies I wormed and gave everyone their shots recently. Skwiss and Jem were done 6/6 with Ivermectin. Tilly was done 8/3 with VALBAZAN. Is the valbazan going to hurt Tilly's kids if she is pregnant. I had assumed she wasn't pregnant when I gave it to her. Jem doesn't look that fat but I guess she could be hiding a single. Tilly is a boat but I can't really tell if she's too fat or preggers. She has a very well developed rumen. Skwiss never shows her pregnancies. She has been looking chubby. I have the vet coming to do testing next week. Can I still test for Johnes, TB, CAE, BANGS, and CL if they're pregnant? I'll try to get pictures and maybe you all can help me decide. I don't want to milk and bottle feed through the winter.

I gave Monkey valbazan and she gave birth to a 10 lb healthy moose of a kid. So... I am sure it can cause abortions but it doesn't all the time. As far as the testing I do not see why it would cause a difference if they are pregnant but someone might want to chime in here and tell you differently.

Even if there are problems, and there probably won't be given the timeline, you had no idea they were pregnant. It Happens, as Donna would say.

Here is the manufacturer's info: Valbazen Suspension Veterinary Information from Drugs.com

No problem with testing pregnant goats. I generally *prefer* to do all of my testing after breeding, because then I can send off for the pregnancy tests too.

In fact, since you have someone out drawing blood anyway, you might want him to just draw and extra tube on your girls and send it off to Biotracking. Then you will KNOW if they are pregnant.
