Help Please! Soap dilema
If some of you read my other soap thread "I made soap Again" it set up.
I had read here in 1 of the threads that someone used Pringles can's for molds, another said PVC pipe.
Well I only had 1 Pringles can so I used that, I also used a rectangular tupperware like container & I used a 3 inch diameter by 12 inch long PVC pipe.
The problem is I can't get it out of the PVC pipe. I'm thinking now I should have greased it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get the soap out of the pipe? Should I let it set in the heat or I thought maybe the freezer for awhile but not sure what to do first.

Put it in the freezer for a while - it will help the soap "shrink". Then take a circular object close to the size of the opening and put it against the soap. Then use a broom handle or some other such object and push it out. **I have never used this method, but have read that it does work.** Some others have posted on another board that I read on soapmaking that they use petroleum jelly and rub it on the inside before they pour the soap in the pvc pipe.
I hope this works for you. I once had some soap in a glass candle container because it was handy when my other mold wasn't big enough for the amount of soap I made. (I don't recomend using this method, it was all I had so I grabbed it) Freezing helped and I was able to shake out the soap, so hopefully freezing will work for you too.

Thanks, I'll go put the tube in the freezer now. My next thing was going to figure out which of Hubby's saw's I could use to cut the tube without cutting my soap!
I feel like an idiot! I will use vaseline or petroleum jelly the next time.
The soap sure looks pretty from each end though. Hahaha!

Soap in a tube!
It's travel soap!
Find a way to dispense it like lipstick or deodorant and paint the PVC pretty colors.
What an awesome mistake it would be. Pictures once you get it out. Soap is on my list of things to try.

Well I'm learning as I go I guess. I was already trying to think of what kind to make next.
I'll have to add Vaseline to my soap ingredient list now too.
I also would like to try making Goats milk Lotion but the couple links I read when I googled it said you had to keep it refrigerated. I sure don't want to rub ice cold lotion on my body so maybe I won't be making goats milk lotion. I'll have to ask for recipe's for lotion here later.

I agree, cold lotion would be quite unappealing. I wonder if you would only have to refridgerate for the longer lengths of time, but keep small batches out for use?

Not sure about that. The sights I read said to store it in the refrigerator.

For the PVC, what I did was use a soup can (any canned product just small enough to fit inside the pipe). I put the can on the counter, then pushed the soap-filled pipe over it. Then I put another can under the first and pushed some more until I got the soap out of the pipe. You can also try spraying the PVC with a cooking spray before pouring your soap.
There are preservatives you can add to the lotion to keep you from having to refrigerate it. The most common one is Phenopip, but it contains parabens. You might want to do some research about parabens before deciding if you want to use Phenopip or not. Another one that I've been reading about is Leucidal. It is supposed to be a natural, plant-based preservative. I haven't tried my hand at lotion making yet, but I will be soon. I'm hoping that I find that the Leucidal is affordable and all it claims to be.

Soup can's are a great idea! I'll get it out of the freezer & try that next! It's driving me crazy because I can't get it out of the PVC pipe. I should be in bed!

You might also want to try mineral oil. My mom is a soap maker and uses mineral oil in her PVC pipes before pouring her soap in the molds, then uses the soup cans to get them started on coming out when they are hard enough. Works like a charm, of course if she has a real stubborn batch in the freezer it goes for a bit.
