Those poor, neglected boys (pics)...

Are starting to smell bad in preparation for breeding season, so I figured I would get some pics while I could get close to them and still breathe...

First, our herdsire. Forrest-Pride Gud Char. He is from Tempo Yagudin and Forrest Pride Kippor's Carmel. He was on the 2009 Young Sire Development List and we are very proud of him - although I couldn't get any of my children to touch him right now to get a proper pose as he has begun applying his cologne (oh, yeah, gotta love that edit button since I found a couple of pics of him that were a few weeks old...):

Next, our Jr. Herdsire. Snow's Silver Skipper. We are very proud of this boy and his brother, Captain, who was sold. At five months, Skipper is already grown to the size of last year's dry yearlings. We plan to breed him to OBF Almond Joy.

Here he is with his buddy, Last Centurion. Centurion is for sale. We would love to keep him, but have his grand-dam, dam, aunt and cousins. Centurion is full sibling to this years GC at our county fair as well as the beautiful Lady Antebellum.

Centurion in the spotlight:

And last, but not least, Taela's Legend. Legend is also for sale. We would love to keep him as well, but with the hay shortage, we only have room for Char and one jr. buck and Skipper was the one we chose to keep.

Your boys are so handsome. I noticed a couple of weeks ago, that my 4.5 month old buckling is already starting to stink. Awefully young, but maybe a promise to the future.

Thanks, we are really happy with our guys! Char is a giant teddy bear and his sons are gorgeous. I have to confess that I look at the pics of Geronimo (Last Centurion) and Legend and I want to keep them both. But we don't need to keep so many Monkey offspring in our herd - although I wish we could...

She is. I got lazy in my posting. Skipper is out of Snow, too - only he is a direct son and Legend is a grandson. We want to keep Joy, so we are juggling genetics.

Since we want to breed Skipper to Joy, do we keep Skipper or Legend? Ugh. Too confusing! Skipper grew more and more quickly, so he "won".

Not yet - but they have been together either since birth or at least all summer also, they aren't in full rut yet. I really hope that Centurion and Legend are sold before we smash into mating season in a month. It could get interesting.
