baycox works

took the plunge and ordered it after thinking how much easier it would be to use instead of dimethox. Took a girl to be dehorned and loaded the skinny Nubian up for an exam had fecals ran since he has a better microscope and he was surprised no worms, eggs or coccidia he said he's never seen a goat not have something.

Yup, just ordered some too from horseprerace.com.

Can't wait to try it. I've got some dam raised mini kids that are looking scruffy - but no way in heck is it possible to catch the wild things for 5 days in a row to do dimethox.

Where did you buy it? My list of the usual suspects is coming up nil. And is there actually a goat version or do we have to (as with so many other things) cobble together a dosage from some other livestock's version?

I got mine from that site as well. The goats didnt eagerly take the med but it wasnt a full blown fight as with dimethox or corid (used it some before i knew about dimethox)
I will do another fecal in a month to see whats going on, I dont quite buy the whole one shot and its done thing but I have plenty of time to find out if its true or not.

Toltrazuril is the drug. In Australia, it is known by the brand name Baycox. It is a cocci treatment that can also be used as a prevention. It is effective against ALL stages of cocci and fecals can be clean for up to 3 weeks after a SINGLE dose (unlike dimethox/corid prevention or treatments, which require dosing every 3 weeks, for 5 days in a row).

It is not sold in the USA.

It can be purchased from Canada (horseprerace.com) or from Australia (don't know where to get it that way, I've only heard of getting it from Canada).

Withdrawal time is pretty extended - 77 days in ruminants, only 20 days in poultry. NOt cleared for use in the US, however.

Kepro :: KEPCOX 2.5% ORAL

The above link is for an off-brand baycox, and it lists withdrawal times. It does come in different concentrations - 2.5% and 5%. The toltrazuril solution from horseprerace.com is a 5% solution, making it fairly economical.

It is pricy at 50.00/200ml, but in a previous thread I priced the use of the stuff compared to Dimethox, and it is CHEAPER to treat kids every 3 weeks with Toltrazuril than it is to treat with Dimethox. I went with the estimate that a good kid should grow at least 10lbs per month on top of birth weight. I continued 'treatments' until 50lbs body weight. Because you use only ONE dose per 3 weeks, it turns out to be cheaper - not to mention easier. I plan on using it on my dam raised boer meat kids.

Sure can. Actually it's used mainly for poutry, cattle, and sheep - not necessarily rabbits or goats, which is what I plan on using it for.

Ive been using it on my boer herd this year and have had no cocci problems this year at all,im very pleased with it. Goats dont seem to mind having it either.. I was starting to see resistance to Dimethox last year,it was taking way too long to treat a few problems with cocci. Toltrozuril wiped it right out.....

Here's the big question: If it's 77 days for ruminants, I'm assuming for meat use, what about dairy? Is there any information about using milk after treating with this?

From wherever in Canada to where I live in Brooklyn, Mi - it was 1.80/unit to ship. We have 3 bottles coming, one for me and two for friends of mine. I didn't think that was bad at all.

We use it for kids, so no worries about milk withdrawal. The hope with your herd is that by the time they are kidding out and giving you milk, they have built up a resistance to Cocci so there is no need to treat an adult.
